Woes of the Big 4-0!

I am so proud of myself today!! I was starving & jones-ing for some Raising Cane's!! Instead of indulging myself, I deprived myself & headed to the safety of my home!

It all started when I turned the big 4-0 almost a year ago. Before turning 40, I was a decent size in clothes. Not skinny, but happy with where I was {oh, who am I kidding? I would have loved to lose 5 lbs, but it wasn't a huge priority}. For the 1st 6 months, all was well! Then suddenly {it seems overnight} I gained 4 lbs! No biggie right, I can work that off? Then BOOM, I effortlessly put on another 6 lbs!! What?? Did aliens invade this body of mine! I did some 30 day shreds & shredded not a dang thing!! And NO, I didn't suddenly start pigging out! Someone must be injecting all my foods with fat hormones! Seriously!!

So what is the moral of this story you ask? Wellll....
  1. You are not alone in this crazy, skinny loving world!
  2. Turning 40 sometimes means sprouting a spare tire around your waist!
  3. Everything you eat now will end up on your waist, thighs, and/or butt!
  4. If I can find humor in this, so can you!
Need to spread some humor on the subject? Maybe you need to whine about it? No matter which, leave a comment and I will be sure to be here for ya! =D

  3. Happy to have found you through #commenthour. For me, the everyday small things add up much more than the once-in-a-while indiscretions.

But the metabolism certainly ain't what it used to be! Shame.

  4. Oh, I am sooo with you one this one. I can relate to every word. All of a sudden I can't shed a pound to save my life. How did that sneak up on us like this?

  5. Yes, ma'am! I am 44 and a personal trainer, personal chef, and team of plastic surgeons couldn't get me into the jeans I wore 20 years and two children ago. sigh.

  7. I am right there with you. Salad and water and walking are my constant activities. 40 brought 6 lbs that seem to not know their way back from whence they came. #commenthour

  10. I'm getting pretty nervous post-pregnancy about the difficulty I'm having losing the last 20 pounds. Just going to have to try harder, I guess.

  13. I. Feel. YOU! I am 30, and I have been trying to drop the same 10 pounds for over a year. The metabolism doesn't work as good as it use to!

  14. I'll be 31 this year and can already feel my inner tube starting to inflate! I'm actively working to deflate it and loose about 10lbs!

  15. I'm so proud of you for making it home!! That's the hardest part! I am just getting started reading Tosca's new book on clean eating and "losing the last ten pounds" and she put in there that her "Body beautiful equation is 80% nutrition + 10% training + 10% genetics, but I wondered - is she counting HORMONES in that measly 10%? I haven't gotten to her details yet, but it seems to me that we women go through all types of physical changes around hormones. Who knows? Maybe it IS only 10% of the issue!

  16. Whew, yeah... unless you're a movie star with access to the right surgeries, at the age of 40 the metabolism goes into a strange sort of hibernation!

  17. Weight loss is something I put on my goals every year and so far I gain about 20lbs a year. Less exercise and a desire for one last fling at food.

Have not been successful and now need to lose over 100 lbs

  18. Wow, that's some willpower you've got there!!! #commenthour

  19. I will be turning 40 in December. I have never been one to work out, ever. I don't watch what I eat either. I've been thinking this should change before the end of the year. Please kick me in my butt and get me out of this chair!!
